When the Romans tried to rule the Mediterranean Sea with its wealthy trading parts,they clashed with the interest of another powerful city Carthage.One of the leader of the Carthaginian army led his son Hannibal to the sacred flames and made him swear to the Gods that he would hate Romans with all his heart until the day of his death.

Hannibal kept his promise.He became the leader of Carthaginian army when he was only 25.He decided to attack Rome crossing Spain and France.In Spain he successfully laid siege to Sagunto a Roman City.Hannibal had brought with him a no of elephants,thousands of horses and mules over steppes mountains,tracked across the Alps.The Romans were not prepared for this and the armies sent out against him were defeated.Hannibal marched towards Rome and defeated them.
