Genghis Khan was one of the most powerful ruler that ever lived,yet he didnt even have a permanent home.The Mongols grazed their flocks and raided where they could,each tribe fighting against the next.Genghis Khan united the tribes and led them to conquer almost all the lands they knew about.As a young man Genghis was called Tamurlane and the story is that while the Mongol chief was gathered in a wood to acclaim him as their ruler,they talked of what he should be called .Suddenly a lark begin to sing genghis,gen-ghis as it winged into the sky and so it became the name of the great ruler.

Genghis Khan attacked China .With an army of 2 lakh men ,he destroyed towns and cities until he reached the capital.Peking withstood the siege for a long time but was forced to surrender.The inhabitants fled,the imperial palace was burnt down and capital was ruined.

In his native steppes,Genghis Khan tried to unite his empire even more closley.But one day he fell from his horse and injured himself.He did not recover from his injuries and died without any one to succeed him.Thus came the end of mighty Genghis Khan
