There are two numbers in English: Singular and Plural.
When noun refers to one person or thing.It is said to be in the singular number.For example- flower,chair,man,road,river
When a noun refers to more than one person or thing,it is said to be in the plural number.For example- girls,trees,towns.
Follow the rules for formation of plurals 1. By adding s
Singular - girl Plural-girls
2. By adding es to nouns ending in o Singular-Hero Plural- Heroes
3. By adding s to certain nouns also ending in o Singular-photo Plural- Photos
4.By adding es to words ending in ch,sh,ss and x Singular-Porch Plural- Porches
5. In nouns ending in y preceded by a consonant the y is replaces by ies Singular- Story Plural-Stories
6. By adding en Singular- Child Plural-Children
7. By changing f or fe of noun endings to v Singular- Life Plural-Lives
8. By changing the vowel Singular-Woman Plural-Women
