Biosphere reserve is a large area of land which is used to protect the natural vegetation and the species of wildlife.The first biosphere reserve was set up in 1986.It is called the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.It covers 5500 sq kms which is spread over three states-Kerala,Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
